as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father,
so we too might walk in newness of life.
“Newness of life” has such a lovely sound. New! Life!
Don’t you love new things? Doesn’t a new life sound wonderful? This new life is only possible because of Jesus’ death and resurrection.
knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead,
is never to die again; death no longer is master over Him.
For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all;
but the life that He lives, He lives to God.
For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust,
so that He might bring us to God,
having been put to death in the flesh,
but made alive in the spirit;
I Peter 3:18
Because of Jesus’ resurrection we can have newness of life. Notice it is not a newness of moment, but of life. It is a continuing work in our lives. God in His great wisdom and mercy has provided us a life that can be continually new.
Do you know who Jesus is? Do you understand what He has done for you? If you don’t, I suggest that you read one of the Gospels, that is Matthew, Mark, Luke or John. The purpose of these books is recorded in John 20:31
these have been written so that you may believe
that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God;
and that believing you may have life in His name.
