E for Emotions

I know that I did an E post, but these thoughts have been in my mind.

We females are emotional beings.  Our moods go up and down.  Our monthly cycles affect our moods, but other things can influence mood changes as well.  I thought I would share some things I have observed and learned about moods.

1.  Emotions are God-given; therefore, they are good.
God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good
    Genesis 1:31a

2.  We are not to be controlled by emotions but by the Holy Spirit.
So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.    And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit
Ephesians 5:17-18

3. Our emotions tend to make us selfish and self-centered.

How to handle the emotional swings
and to permit the Holy Spirit to have more control?

1.  Be thankful for what God has given and has not given.
Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe.
Hebrews 12:28

2.  Allow the Holy Spirit to work in your life.
In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.  And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
Romans 8:26-28

3.  Remember that God is faithful to fulfill all of His words.
Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.
I Thessalonians 5:23-24

An attitude of gratitude and a determination to think less of self will help us to be less controlled by emotions.
