J for Joy

Here are some reasons to have joy.

God gives refuge
But let all who take refuge in You be glad,
Let them ever sing for joy;
And may You shelter them,
That those who love Your name may exult in You.
Psalm 5:11

God doesn’t hold a grudge.
Sing praise to the Lord, you His godly ones,
And give thanks to His holy name.
For His anger is but for a moment,
His favor is for a lifetime;
Weeping may last for the night,
But a shout of joy comes in the morning.
Psalm 30:5

God’s lovingkindness is real.
Many are the sorrows of the wicked,
But he who trusts in the Lord, lovingkindness shall surround him.
Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, you righteous ones;
And shout for joy, all you who are upright in heart.
Psalm 32:10-11

Our situation and our needs are important to God.
Let them shout for joy and rejoice, who favor my vindication;
And let them say continually, “The Lord be magnified,
Who delights in the prosperity of His servant.”
And my tongue shall declare Your righteousness
And Your praise all day long.
Psalm 32:27-28

God is our help.
When I remember You on my bed,
I meditate on You in the night watches,
For You have been my help,
And in the shadow of Your wings I sing for joy.
My soul clings to You;
Your right hand upholds me.
Psalm 63:6-8

God made us and He cares for us.
Serve the Lord with gladness;
Come before Him with joyful singing.
Know that the Lord Himself is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
Psalm 100:2-3

God gives us hope and provides us with power
through the Holy Spirit.
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:13

God has provided an inheritance
for all those who have trusted in Him.
strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might,
for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience;
joyously giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light.

Colossians 1:11-12

God sees our joy as an evidence of His working in our lives.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control;
against such things there is no law.

Galatians 5:22-23

Joy is important to a Christian’s life.
It can be lost because of sin in our lives.
Restore to me the joy of Your salvation
And sustain me with a willing spirit.
Psalm 51:12

Joy needs to be part of our service to God.
If it is not, God has some consequences that we would not want to happen to us.
Because you did not serve the Lord your God
with joy and a glad heart, for the abundance of all things
Deuteronomy 28:47

So I will bless You as long as I live;

I will lift up my hands in Your name.
My soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness,
And my mouth offers praises with joyful lips.
Psalm 63:4-5
